Phinney, Blatchford Each Take National Championships!
Carson, Calif. (October 2, 2008)—In the first afternoon of competition at the Elite Track National Championships Taylor Phinney scored gold by riding to victory in the Kilo. The 18-year-old from Boulder, Colo., turned in a time of 1:03.208, some 2 seconds faster than second place.

Because of his age, Phinney is still considered a junior and as a result is ineligible for the U23 Championship.

Michael Blatchford of Cypress, Calif., rode to victory in the 250-meter time trial with a time of 18.388. Due to his age, Blatchford also took the U23 Championship in the event.

The National Championships are taking place at the ADT Event Center at the Home Depot Center through Sunday, October 5th. For more info, go here.
